MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) _ The list of Democratic candidates for president is shrinking. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is
dropping out of the race.

That's according to sources close to the governor. They say he'll make the announcement Thursday.

Richardson has fared poorly, finishing twice in fourth place.

Despite having one of the most wide-ranging resumes of any candidate ever to run for the presidency, he was never able to become a top contender. Richardson has focused on ending the war in Iraq. He accused his rivals of failing to commit to bring troops home sooner.
