Kansas Democratic Party Chairman Larry Gates announced the locations for the Presidential Caucus on February 5th. They include Robinson Middle School, Highland Park High and Topeka West High. Best Western in Emporia is the Lyon County site.. other area sites are the K-State Union in Manhattan, and the Geary County History Museum on North Adams in Junction City.
"Now that the excitement of the Iowa caucuses is subsiding, it is time for Kansans to make their choice for the Democratic nominee," Gates said Thursday. Gates says by Super Tuesday, the Democratic nominee will be decided.. and he adds it's the first time in years that Kansans will play a part in determining that outcome.
Doors at each caucus will open at 6pm February 5th, and voters must be in line by 7pm to make sure they're eligible. Iowa caucus winner Barack Obama has filed in Kansas, along with the two right behind him, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards. All registered Kansas Democrats are eligible to participate. They must also be at least 18 years old by November 4th, 2008.
Kansas is one of 22 states holding primaries and caucuses on that date, including Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado.
