Cheney to Speak at Kansas City WWI Memorial on Friday

WASHINGTON (AP) Vice President Cheney will be in Kansas City on Friday for a speech at the National World War I Museum at the Liberty Memorial.

The speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars comes on Pearl Harbor Day. Cheney is expected to talk about the importance of military troop support as he honors those who lost their lives during the 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor.

President Bush is blaming Democrats for failing to pass his latest war-funding request and trying to condition additional money on a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

Cheney is scheduled to speak in the early afternoon after appearing at a fundraising luncheon in Leawood, Kansas, for Republican state Senator Nick Jordan, who is running for Congress.

Jordan is trying to unseat Democratic congressman Dennis Moore.
