Brownback Backs McCain: GOP Officials

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) _ GOP officials say Kansas Senator Sam
Brownback will endorse his former Republican presidential rival John McCain.

The conservative Brownback is a favorite of evangelical Christians, and his endorsement could provide a much-needed boost for McCain, especially in Iowa.

The Arizona senator and one-time presumed GOP front-runner is now looking for a comeback after his campaign faltered.

Brownback is expected to announce his support for McCain Wednesday in Dubuque, Iowa, and then travel with the candidate to campaign in two other cities in the state.

It's uncertain how much weight Brownback's backing will carry. Brownback dropped out of the race last month with little money and
little support.
