Washington (CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has made its biggest ad buy since the launch of its general election media campaign, buying $3.24 million worth of ads in seven battleground states, according to a GOP media buying source.

The new ad buy begins Wednesday and runs through next Tuesday.

So far the campaign has aired mostly positive ads touting what Romney would do if he is elected.

Here is the breakdown of the buy, according to the ad source:

- Colorado: $713,035

- Iowa: $385,745

- North Carolina: $591,705

- New Hampshire: $77,500

- Nevada: $227,030

- Ohio: $838,455

- Virginia $402,267

The campaign last week expanded its list of states in which it was airing ads to include Colorado, New Hampshire and Nevada.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama's campaign has purchased an additional $12.8 million for broadcast and cable ad time running from Thursday to July 2 in nine battleground states. The campaign will run a spot attacking Romney's record as Massachusetts governor, according to the ad buying source. That means team Obama will be plucking down $27.6 million for the month running from June 5 through the first two days of July – an unprecedented amount for what is usually the slow time of June. For the next few weeks it will be airing several different commercials, including two going after Romney's record as well as one touting the Obama administration's economic policies.

The breakdown of the new Obama buy is:

- Colorado: $365,660

- Florida: $2,417,905

- Iowa: $900,051

- New Hampshire: $687,464

- Nevada: $1,138,208

- North Carolina: $1,875,525

- Ohio: $3,643,934

- Pennsylvania: $514,186

- Virginia: $1,274,783
