Kansas Consumers Beware of Bank Card Scam

The BBB wants to warn consumers of these scams whether it is a call on your landline, cellphone, email etc… DO NOT RESPOND to these random notices.

FROM THE BBB -- The Better Business Bureau of Kansas wants to alert consumers of a Bank Card scam. Consumers who are receiving calls on their cell phones start with a recorded messages the first part of the message is hard to understand. But then, becomes much clearer to tell you your “bank card has been locked, please press one to proceed”.

An employee with the BBB experienced this call first hand around 7:30 a.m. from a 201-520-0001 phone number that in itself looks suspicious. They obviously hung up from the call and contacted their bank to verify that their bank card was still active, which it was.

The BBB wants to warn consumers of these scams whether it is a call on your landline, cellphone, email etc… DO NOT RESPOND to these random notices. Contact your banking institution, cell phone carrier, or whichever agency that these notices are referencing and ask them if they are calling regarding a problem with your account or service.
