ARLINGTON, Va. (WIBW)-- Former Kansas Governor and current American Trucking Assoc. (ATA) President Bill Graves has called for a 'Long term highway funding solution'.
Graves criticized what he called "...inadequate, inconsistent and unpredictable funding cycle that is perpetuated by the current approach of putting off passage of a long-term revenue bill".
Graves also noted that the trucking industry pays $18 billion dollars per year into the Federal Highway Trust Fund and ATA members have sought an increase in highway user fees.
He also warned that "...extending the funding problem well into 2015, could endanger the nation's economy, the future of the trucking industry and, most importantly, the safety of truck drivers and other highway users.”
