MUMBAI, India (AP) -- Sixteen people were killed when an overcrowded jeep crashed into a truck outside Mumbai, police said Sunday.
State police official Pravin Patil said the jeep was filled with members of a family traveling to a wedding party. The dead included three children.
It was unclear if there were any survivors.
Police said the jeep was speeding when it crashed into the back of the truck early Sunday on a highway outside the western city of Mumbai.
The jeep was dragged by the truck for nearly 6 miles before the driver realized what had happened.
Police are still investigating the accident.
