Douglas and Jefferson counties see wind damage with downed tree limbs, roofs torn off of buildings and people losing power. People in Shawnee County also saw moderate tree damage in Topeka.
As of 4:00 a.m. Westar Energy was reporting at least a thousand Douglas county customers had lost power, twenty-two hundred in Wyandotte and close to fourteen hundred in Leavenworth, and three hundred in Jefferson county.
According to local media outlets, across the state line, two tornadoes touched down near Belton, Missouri and Gladstone was the hardest hit. At least three people were injured and nearly two hundred homes were damaged.
