Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling nealry 540,000 Corolla and Matrix passenger cars because the bolts in the power window system can loosen and cause a window to shatter. Toyota reports its received nearly 150 complaints in which the bolts at the bottom of the power window assembly became loose, caused the window to rattle or led to the window breaking.
One minor accident and 15 injuries were reported. The affected vehicles are in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The recall affects 2003 and 2004 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles equipped with power windows. Toyota plans to notify owners of the recall in late April. Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger door glass bolts at no charge to those affected owners.
