KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) Wyandotte County officials have moved a step closer to buying the privately-held ballpark where a minor league baseball team plays.
The Kansas City Star reports that the board of commissioners of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., on Thursday approved a notice of a change to the development plan in the Village West area where the Kansas City T-Bones play.
Without the change, the county's talks with T-Bones owner, Ehlert Development Corp., about a possible sale wouldn't have moved ahead.
If a deal is reached, the Unified Government will pay $5.5 million to acquire the ballpark from Ehlert Development and set aside $2.5 million for future repairs and upgrades.
