Fatal Rollover Leaves 1 Dead, Car Lodged In Front Porch

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- One person died in an accident where a vehicle was lodged upside down in the front porch of a home early Monday.

Police say officers were called to an injury rollover accident in the 200 block of West 21st at 1:45 a.m.

The driver, Shawn Miller, 47, of Topeka, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The passenger, Luann Freeman, 36, of Topeka, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

Authorities say the car struck a gas meter forcing residents in the area to be evacuated. The car landed upside down, partially lodged in the front porch of a home.

A cause of the accident had not been released Monday afternoon.
