Mayetta Murder Suspect Remains At Large

TOPEKA, KAN. (WIBW)-- Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse confirmed new information Sunday concerning a Mayetta murder suspect who remains on the run.

Lloyd Alan Wabaunsee, 22, described as a Native American Male, 5'9", weighing 180 lbs, is believed to be driving a 1993 GMC pickup and in the company of Desiree Shoptesse, who was listed as the fiancee of David Tiscareno, the suspected shooter of two Topeka Police officers.

Authorities say Wabaunsee is armed and extremely dangerous following the shooting death of a Mayetta man Thursday night.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at 206 James in Mayetta around 10:40 p.m. Thursday.

Kevin Stanley, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials were searching Friday morning for Lloyd Alan Wabaunsee, 22, as a person of interest in the case.

KBI officials were called in to assist Jackson County authorities as they worked to process crime scene Friday, a KBI representative told 13 News.

Royal Valley Schools were placed on lockdown Friday, as administrators took precautionary measures to ensure student safety during the search for the shooting suspect.

Student schedules were unchanged with the exception of recess times, which were held indoors.

Officials encouraged anyone with information in the case to call their local law enforcement agency, or the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (785) 364-2251.

State records reviewed by 13 News Friday reveal Kevin Stanley had a criminal record. Five convictions are listed on record from October 2005 to May 2007. Among Stanley's convictions- drug use, furnishing alcohol to a minor and driving with a suspended license.
