Police Find Handgun, Drugs In Car, Take Two Into Custody

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Officers reported hearing gunshots in the area of 8th and Polk around 2:30 Friday morning. Officers say they watched as a white 1991 Cadillac left the area at a high rate of speed.

Authorities stopped the car moments later and detained two suspects. A handgun, spent shell casings and drugs were found inside.

Both suspects were taken to the Law Enforcement Center before being booked into the Shawnee County Jail.

Police say Kevin Carlson, 35, of Topeka, was booked on two traffic violations, a parole violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Bobbi Jo Kleiner, 31, of Topeka, was booked on possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamines, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal discharge of a firearm.
