Two UMKC Profs in Sex Case Promoted, Despite Panel's Advise Not To

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _Two University of Missouri-Kansas City psychology professors at the center of a sexual harassment case were promoted even though a committee advised against it.

The Kansas City Star reports that interim provost Bruce Bubacz recommended that the two faculty members be promoted from associate to full professors.

In 2006 a U-M-K-C advisory panel said Keith Haddock and Walker Carlos Poston should not be promoted due to concerns over their alleged misconduct. Two women accused them of groping, fondling and
subjecting women to explicit sexual conversations.

This month the school agreed to pay the two women about one (m)
million dollars, and announced that it planned a second
investigation into the allegations.
Bubacz said in a letter of recommendation to the school
chancellor that he had the support of the committee.
