TROY, Mo. (AP) _ Missouri Department of Transportation officials
say plans are in place to upgrade a dangerous stretch of U-S 61.
A packed house was on hand last night in Lincoln County for a meeting concerning the stretch of highway that has claimed several lives in recent months. A wreck in June killed three children.
Among immediate changes planned are improved signage and a lower
speed limit. Long-term plans include asking residents to approve a 2009 tax increase with money earmarked for highway improvements.
