Topeka NAACP Welcomes Hispanic Leader

The Topeka branch of the NAACP welcomes Kansas Hispanic and Latin American Affairs Commission Executive Director Steve Cisneros to speak at its monthly meeting Saturday, July 28, at the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site.

His talk will be titled “The Mission and Work of the Kansas Hispanic and Latin American Affairs Commission.”

The meeting starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Site, 1515 SE Monroe. NAACP members and the public are invited to attend.

A native Kansan, Cisneros grew up in Wichita. He attended Wichita Public Schools and graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in Political Science. At WSU he was the first Student Government President of color.

The Topeka Branch of the NAACP meets monthly. Its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
