Safe Streets, is collaborating with the Topeka police Department, to offer a four-hour training session on Citizen Patrol on Saturday , august 4, form 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The cost is $10. training will be conducted at the Law Enforcement Center at 320 South Kansas and lunch will be provided.
Participants will learn the latest crime trends and crime prevention techniques, as well as the goals and methods of conducting a citizen patrol.
Citizen Patrol is not citizens apprehending criminals. Instead, the program seek to educate the public on what types of activity they should note as suspicious and report to law enforcement.
Citizen Patrol is an extension of Neighborhood Watch group efforts to mobilize neighborhoods in reducing crime.
