(WIBW) _ Two Fort Riley soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan.
Sen. Jerry Moran's office says 22-year-old Private First Class Jesus Lopez of San Bernardino, California and 25-year-old First Lieutenant Todd Lambka of Fraser, Michigan died Aug. 1. Moran's statement says an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle.
Both men were with Fort Riley's "D" company, 1st battalion, 28th infantry regiment, in the 1st infantry division.
Of both soldiers, Moran said the "country will be forever indebted" to them for their "service and sacrifice on our behalf." He extended his sympathies, thoughts and prayers to their families and friends.
