Kansas Air National Guard Cuts Ribbon On New Facility

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Air National Guard officially dedicated a new center Thursday.

Chamber of Commerce ambassadors joined state and local officials for the celebration at 5900 SW Huntoon Street.

Amidst the fanfare, the center also went to work - Chase Render took his oath and became the first new Air Force recruit sworn in at the new facility.

Air National Guard officials say they play an important role, not only for Topeka and Kansas, but also for those going through disasters across the country. For example, they'll likely assist with response to Hurricane Isaac along the Gulf region.
