Sinise, who plays bass, is best known for his role as Lt. Dan in “Forrest Gump,” which was the source of the band’s name. The 12-member Chicago-based band covers a wide-range of music including Bruce Springsteen, Linkin Park, Aretha Franklin and Jimi Hendrix.
The concert is scheduled as a welcome home to the Combat Aviation and 1st Sustainment brigades, both of which recently completed successful 15-month missions in Iraq.
“Gary Sinise is a strong supporter of the military. Lt. Dan Band came out as something to support the troops. We are very fortunate that he is coming to Kansas to perform,” said April Blackmon, center director for United Services Organization Fort Riley.
The Family-orientated event is free and open to all Soldiers, their Families and Department of the Army civilians and their guests. A military or civilian identification card is required for admission.
