A Kansas Army National Guard soldier earned honors Friday for his actions in Afghanistan.
Adjutant General Tod Bunting pinned not one, but two Bronze Stars on Major Gregory Edson of Topeka.
Edson was wounded by enemy action in December 2007, but continued to fight. He was also cited for improving operations of the Afghan National Police Force. He's credited with getting them better equipment and improving their relationships with the local Afghan National Army unit and other Coalition Forces.
Edson has served in the Kansas National Guard since 1992. In addition to the Bronze Stars, he earned a Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge and Meritorious Service Medal.
