A fort Riley Brigade that returned in April from 15 months in Iraq has been notified that it is scheduled to go back in 2009.
The 4th Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division was part of the surge of troops sent to Baghdad in 2007. It was told Tuesday that it would go back to Iraq in the spring or summer of 2009.
The 3,500 soldiers will have been in the U.S. for at least a year. Fort Riley currently has 3,000 soldiers in Iraq. They are due back before Christmas.
