Fort Riley Adviser Killed in Afghanistan

FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) - Army officials say another soldier from Fort Riley has been killed in combat.

Bruno G. Desolenni, a 32-year-old Army captain, died Sept. 20 from wounds caused by a blast that struck his vehicle in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Desolenni was an infantry officer serving on a military transition team assigned to the 1st Brigade of 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley.

Desolenni was from Crescent City, Calif., and joined the Army in December 1996. He was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division in January. This was his second deployment.

To date, 157 soldiers, sailors and airmen assigned to Fort Riley have died in combat.
