Fort Riley, KS (AP)- Another batch of Fort Riley soldiers return home from Iraq. Families welcomed their soldiers with open arms!

The Army says about 450 troops are expected to arrive Friday afternoon at the northeast Kansas post.

The soldiers are part of the 4th Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division that was sent to Iraq last year, when the U.S. beefed up its troop levels. The units were sent to Baghdad, where officials sought to keep civil unrest in check to allow the Iraqi government time to develop.

More Fort Riley soldiers are expected to arrive in Kansas over the next two weeks. In all about 3,400 soldiers from the brigade will return, leaving around 4,000 1st Infantry Division troops in Iraq.

Later this year another brigade of about 3,000 soldiers will be going to California for deployment to Iraq.
