Fort Riley celebrated women's history month Wednesday. On display were posters of women that have pioneered the way for many other young women across the world. In the room...were women making a difference in their careers as well, military women.

PFC Grace says, "it's good for the guys to see that women have achieved things too."

"The purpose of this event is to show the strengths of women in our United States armed forces and throughout the world. We can inspire younger women to do great things," says SFC Nicole Powell, equal opportunity office.

Guest speaker Molly Murphy MacGregor shared some of her personal stories growing up in a time where women were'nt expected to succeed. "Women's history month validates women in the military..it gives women that sense of purpose and promise and why they make the choices that they make, it gives men a sense of who women are."

With the help of Molly and her organization women's history week was turned into a month. For more information on women's history visit the link below.
