Kansas soldier dies in Hawaii motorcycle crash

SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A Salina soldier who recently finished a
year-long tour in Iraq has been killed in a motorcycle crash near
his military base in Hawaii.

Authorities say 23-year-old David Schoof crashed the motorcycle
he was driving into a guard rail and a utility pole a week ago.

Loved ones say Schoof joined the Army about three years ago and
was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, with the 25th
Infantry VAU Forward Division. His mother, Dee Schoof of Salina,
said her son assembled unmanned aircraft.

Funeral services for Schoof are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at
Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina.
