Golden Corrals nationwide honored past and present veterans Monday for their sacrifices made for this country.
"Its our military appreciation Monday. Where we honor those individuals who have served to protect our freedoms and our country and its our opportunity to serve them now..we bring them in for a meal from 5 to 9 pm..its always on the Monday following veterans day every year..we've done it now for seven years," says Darryl Domid, owner of the Golden Corral on Wanamaker Rd.
Retired disabled veteran, Ronald Begley says,"this is a very good program its a collaboration between disabled american veterans and the golden corral franchise..it gives veterans the opportunity to come out and meet other vets."
The program first started on the East coast where a franchise owner began honoring local military veterans 7 years ago. The Golden Corral corporate office caught wind of this and decided to make this a national event at all franchises.
Last year the Golden Corral in Topeka served 880 meals, this year the owner says he expects the same or even more.
