Riley County Police Search For Missing Person At Tuttle Creek

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Riley County Police are searching for a missing person after a boat capsized Sunday afternoon in the Tuttle Cove Park area at Tuttle Creek Lake.

Officials say three people were on the boat at the time that it sank. The first two victims were pulled out of the water by a fisherman and taken to Mercy Regional Health Center.

The third person was not recovered immediately and officials say search efforts have now switched from search and rescue to recovery.

"Basically the reason for the search is the thing that’s changed," said Public Information Officer Matthew Droge. "When the victim has been out in the water for as long as they have, potentially underwater, that’s when the switch to recovery is made."

Police say the victim has been identified as a 25 year old male. No names have been released.
