MANHATTAN, Kan Two Emporia State students grabbed a second place in a business venture competition against Kansas State University in the first ever Kansas Entrepreneurship Challenge.
The Emporia State team, Rock Creek Ostrich Ranch, run by Nakita Elwood and Teri Whitson received the $1,000 second place prize for their "ostrich ranch" business that is currently in the "Seed Stage".
Other Emporia teams proposed a bike rental kiosk" and scheduling software designed for educational institutions.
The $2,000 first place prize was taken by Kansas State students Josh Mais from Leawood for a professional real estate photography and video business plan.
Third place and $500 went to Kansas State students Filippe Scortegagna and Marcos Cortopassi, Kansas State students for technology that will help dairy cow producers identify unhealthy animals based on their water consumption.
