Move Over Times Square, Festival Of Lights Comes To Little Apple

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - The Little Apple is set to host a new holiday event, The Festival of Lights. This event will take place on Nov. 29th in Blue Earth Plaza and features one of the tallest holiday trees in Kansas. The 50-foot tree will have its lights turned on at 7 p.m.

Other pre-lit trees and holiday-themed lights will adorn the rest of Blue Earth Plaza. Horse-Drawn carriage rides will be offered from 7-9 p.m. on the 29th with pick-ups and drop-offs from the Blue Earth Plaza. Rides are free, and there will be a donation basket for non-perishable food items benefiting the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.

Carriage Rides will also be offered Dec. 7-22 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5-8 p.m. These rides are free with a non-perishable food donation, and will also pick up and drop off from the Blue Earth Plaza.

A separate carriage service will offer free rides from Triangle Park in Aggieville Dec. 13-14 & 20-21 from 4-7 p.m.

The Blue Earth Plaza is located between the Flint Hills Discovery Center, The Hilton Garden Inn and the Candlewood Suites, off 3rd street. Attendees of the event are also invited to walk Poyntz Ave and see the newly remodeled downtown and new businesses.
