Country Stampede Kicks Off In Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Country Stampede kicked things off Thursday in Manhattan as the four day music festival got underway.

Tents, cars, and RVs filled the roads and campgrounds as thousands of people both young and old got an early start to this year’s this year's festivities.

"We came last night, like Wednesday, because obviously it’s sold out this year," said Jodie Luebbert. "And we’ve just been walking around talking to people."

Country Stampede has continued to grow over the years, drawing in thousands of people from out of state to come enjoy four days of country music in Manhattan.

"They’re mixed up from everywhere in Nebraska," said Micah Urbanek of Kearney, Nebraska. "But the best part, the biggest thing that brings us all together is country music and loving to have a good time."

Thursday night featured performances from five bands and artists, including Thomas Rhett and Easton Corbin.
