General To Take Fort Leavenworth Command

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) _ Lt. Gen. David E. Perkins is set to assume command of Fort Leavenworth and the Army's Combined Arms Center in a ceremony Tuesday.

Perkins replaces Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, who was reassigned as commander of the NATO training mission in Iraq and chief of the Office of Security Cooperation in Iraq.

Perkins most recently was commander of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo. He was also commanding general of the United States Division-North in Iraq.

Fort Leavenworth is home to the Army's Command and General Staff College, as well as the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks.
