TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor issued subpoenas to seven state lawmakers to question about private meetings with Gov. Sam Brownback.

Taylor is investigating whether a series of dinners Brownback hosted at Cedar Crest in January violated the Open Meetings Act. Members from more than a dozen House and Senate committees attended.

Sen. Susan Wagle, R-Wichita, is among those ordered to appear Thursday. She called Taylor's investigation a "political fishing expedition." She says she considers Taylor's investigation a waste of time.

Wagle also said she's arranging to answer questions by phone so she doesn't have to travel while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Also subpoenaed were Sen. Bob Marshall of Fort Scott, along representatives Anthony Brown, of Eudora; Rob Bruchman, of Overland Park; Steve Brunk, of Bel Aire; Virgil Peck, of Tyro; and Scott Schwab, of Olathe.

However, Bruchman and Schwab were later released from their subpoenas.
