TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Some good news to report for residents of Council Grove.
In a press release sent today, City Administrator Danny Matthews says all zebra mussels have been removed from the raw water intake tower at the Council Grove City Lake.
Last Thursday sludge built up and blocked off a 16 inch outlet pipe.
The zebra mussels came off the walls and settled at the bottom of the tower.
Matthews says engineers are currently working on a solution to stop mussel growth inside the tower and to improve water flow to the lake.
