TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)--Young Topekans are getting to experience what it's like to be homeless.

The Topeka Boys and Girls Club and the Kansas Children's Discovery Center put together a homeless simulation.

Boys and Girls club members will spend the weekend living in tents and trying to understand what life would be like without a home.

They'll also dine at the Topeka Rescue Mission and take a trip to Harvesters.

The young people will be working with homeless in Topeka all year so organizers hope this weekend will help them understand the people they will encounter better.

Disney And Friends For Change donated the money to make the weekend possible.
