TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- From Release -- For 24 years, the YWCA’s Leadership Luncheon has been a special event that has honored and recognized over 800 women who make significant contributions to the Topeka area community.

Each year, in addition to honoring all nominees, the luncheon committee selects one woman in each category as its “woman of excellence.” The committee also designates an employer of excellence and awards scholarships to young women through its “future leader” awards.

The YWCA Leadership Luncheon promotes the YWCA’s emphasis on empowerment, personal growth and leadership for all women. In 2011, the Leadership Luncheon recognized 32 individual leaders, seven future leaders and one community partner in Topeka.

Former First Daughter, Jenna Bush Hager has seen first-hand how small change can make a large difference in a single life. Hager is passionate about literacy, education and improving inner-city schools. She will share her own stories of creating change in someone’s life that will leave the audience with a call to improve people’s lives in their own community.
