JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 29-year-old man is in intensive care after suffering a fall on the job.

On Monday, May 27, 2013 just before 10 AM, David Van Bebber Jr. of Riley, Kansas fell approximately 30 feet from the roof of Geary Community Hospital in Junction City as he was washing windows.

Van Bebber was taken inside the hospital for treatment and then transferred to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

A spokeswoman for Geary Community Hospital said he was listed in stable condition in Stormont-Vail's ICU and awaiting surgery Tuesday morning.

Officials say Van Bebber was demonstrating a new climbing device and went over the edge of the building without a safety line. His primary line was old and frayed and snapped, causing him to fall.

He works for Dave Service Company out of Riley, Kansas
