Woman Sentenced In Death Of Son

TOEPKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Leroy woman will serve more than 13 years in prison for the death of her newborn son.

23-year-old Karen Marie Bailey received a 161 month sentence Thursday in Coffey County District Court.

Bailey gave birth to her son in her car on April 2 last year and then left him unattended in the car for several hours, leading to his death.

On June 1, Bailey pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child.
