MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- What was supposed to be a fun night out for a woman in Manhattan took a dangerous turn when police say she had too much to drink and fell prey to a stranger who took advantage of her.

Riley County police are investigating a rape that allegedly occurred during a house party at a home in the central part of Manhattan on Sunday, February 24th at 3 AM. An exact location of the reported offense was not provided.

The victim, a woman in her twenties who is not being identified, reported that she was at the party with several of her friends and became intoxicated. She went to a bedroom to sleep and when she woke up, she says a man she did not know was on top of her and having sex with her. She reported the incident to Riley County police on February 25th at 10 AM and an investigation has been launched.

A spokesman for the Riley County Police Department said there was nothing in reports that indicate whether or not the victim is a student at Kansas State University.

Police did not say how many people were in attendance at the party.
