GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Wichita man is recovering after being run over by a tractor while working in Geary County.
It happened Monday afternoon around 4 PM in the 10000 block of Humboldt Creek Road, a rural area southeast of Junction City.
Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf says a crew with Asplundh Tree Expert Co. out of Lenexa, Kansas was working down in a ravine and workers were pulling a hose down to spray chemicals used to kill tree stumps. A tractor was situated at the top of the ravine with a tank on top that held the chemicals.
Wolf believes the brakes on the tractor malfunctioned because it suddenly started down the hill, rolling over 23-year-old Bryan Casey.
Casey complained of back and chest pain at the scene and was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Reports indicate that he was listed in stable condition.
