Story time featured special guests at one area school Thursday.

Whitson Elementary School invited VIP readers to visit classes as part of American Education Week. The visits are meant to encourage a love of reading in the students.

13's Ralph Hipp entertained Ms. Burgardt's second graders with the book "Stone Soup," while Melissa Brunner shared "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" with Mrs. Gonzalez' second graders. She also read to Mrs. Wienck's fourth graders.

13's Jeremy Goodwin, Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller and Fire Chief Greg Bailey were among others taking part.
