Barry Feaker Says There Is A Need For The Food

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The race is on to raise the most food!

Washburn University President Jerry Farley, Topeka Rescue Mission Executive Director Barry Feaker and Washburn Student Government President Eric Benedict kicked off the 6th annual "Can Emporia" competition Thursday.

Washburn and Emporia State University compete each year to raise the most non-perishable food for local food banks. The drive begins this saturday and runs through November 2nd. The student government president of the losing school gets a pie in their face during halftime of the Washburn - ESU football game November 10th.

Donors may bring cans for the Bods to the student government office in the lower level of the Memorial Union.
