TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One man is behind bars on charges he tried to break into Let's Help on South Kansas Avenue late Saturday night.
Topeka Police say they located a bloody shirt at the scene and found 29-year old Dustin Allen across the street from the building. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries, then booked into jail on charges of burglary and criminal damage.
Police continue investigating whether other people might have been involved.
A Let's Help volunteer says a building window, several van windows and the windshield of a box truck were broken. The damage adds up to thousands of dollars, which the organization does not have.
People who would like to donate to assist with repairs may contact Let's Help executive director Shelly Lowery at 785-270-5238.
