TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Re-writing the state's science standards is a task facing the Kansas State Board of Education in the upcoming year.
During their meeting Tuesday, board members heard an update on the "Next Generation Science Standards." The standards are a multi-state effort to develop a framework for k-thru-12 science education.
An initial draft has been released. A second public draft is due out this fall.
In Kansas, debate over science standards has long included discussion on how much to emphasize the theory of evolution.
