Union Sets Vote On Goodyear Contract Agreement

From Goodyear: The USW membership, at each of the master plants, have scheduled their 2013 Master Contract Ratification Vote on the following dates: Akron: August 11 Buffalo: August 13 Danville: August 15 Fayetteville: August 16 Gadsden: August 22 Topeka: August 13

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A date is set for Topeka Goodyear workers to vote on a new contract with the company.

Members of United Steelworkers Local 307 will cast ballots August 12th and13th. Voting on the 12th will follow informational meetings at 8 am, Noon and 4 pm at the Expocentre's Ag Hall. Voting on the 13th is available to members from 6 am to 5 pm at the Union Hall.

Goodyear and its union reached a tentative agreement July 27th, hours before their old, four-year contract expired.

The contract covers some 8,000 workers at six North American plants, including Topeka. Final results won't be known until the last plant votes, August 22nd in Gadsen, Alabama.

Union and company leaders have been negotiating issues including pension, benefits and wages.
