TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - After 35 years of service, a police officer at Topeka High School is moving on to a new beat.
USD 501 Police Sgt. Mike Homan was honored Tuesday afternoon at a ceremony at the school's auditorium.
He says he will miss the kids the most because they made his job fun. He added that technology both helped his job and made it more challenging.
"It's been a learning curve for us, but then it's been a good tool for us," Homan said. "It's kind of come against us a few times, too, (because it) causes a lot of drama with Facebook and stuff like that."
Homan says he plans to spend his days fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
