US Attorney To Talk Public Safety, Human Rights

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom is expected to talk about protecting public safety and human rights at an event commemorating Law Day in Kansas.

His presentation begins at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Room 209 of Hubbard Hall at Wichita State University.

The annual event is observed by lawyers, judges, court employees and others with an interest in the legal process. It highlights how law contributes to freedom in the United States.

Grissom oversees about 49 assistant U.S. attorneys and 53 support staff in Kansas. He was nominated by President Barack Obama in April 2010 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in August 2010.

Grissom's is the guest of Andra Bannister, a professor in the School of Community Affairs and director of the Regional Community Policing Training Institute at Wichita State.
