WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE)-- Authorities say they have found the body of a 14-year-old boy who went missing Friday afternoon in the Big Ditch in northwest Wichita.
The boy's body was recovered about 200 yards from where he was last seen, near Zoo Boulevard and I-235.
Officials said the water level in the Big Ditch has dropped since Friday, and the body was found about 10:45 Sunday morning in some brush about 15 feet from the east bank.
According to police, the family has been notified and thanks rescue crews for their efforts.
The teen disappeared while swimming about 12:30 p.m. Friday. It took about 20 minutes for the two boys who were with him to reach a telephone to call 911.
