Two Injured In Afternoon Accident

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Injuries in a three-vehicle accident Thurssday are reportedly less serious than first thought.

The accident happened just before 2:30 pm on SW 6th Street, west of Fairlawn Rd. Topeka Police say the driver of a westbound minivan crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound car before hitting another car head-on.

The drivers were the only people in the vehicles. Two of them were initially thought to be critically injured, but police later said the injuries were considered non-life threatening.

Two people suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 pm on SW 6th St., west of Fairlawn and east of the Security Benefit building.

Police say a car and a mini-van collided head-on. Another car was somehow hit in the side.

The drivers were the only people in the vehicles. At least one had to be extricated.

The Topeka Police accident reconstruction team was investigating how it happened.
